














Outdoor Leadership Trip for LGBTQIA+ Teens and Allies (Ages 14-18)
Join us for an exciting outdoor leadership trip tailored for LGBTQIA+ teens and allies aged 14-18! No prior experience is necessary to participate in this immersive adventure that blends outdoor recreation, leadership skill-building, and unforgettable experiences. The trip will take place in Caratunk, Maine, starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 14. (Please note transportation to and from western Maine is not included.)
This 3-day program is designed to expose participants to the world of outdoor recreation and hospitality while fostering essential skills like communication, leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability. Hard skills like climbing, whitewater rafting, camping, and outdoor cooking will also be introduced. Here's a summary of the itinerary:
Day 1 kicks off with dinner, orientation, and introductions to belay school on the indoor climbing wall. Participants will learn basic climbing skills in a supportive environment.
Day 2 begins with breakfast, followed by packing for a 2-day rafting trip. Participants will raft on introductory rapids and receive hands-on paddling instruction before arriving at a remote campsite on Indian Pond. The day wraps up with a fire-cooked barbecue, wilderness sauna, and s’mores by the campfire.
Day 3 includes breakfast at camp, an exhilarating 12-mile descent of the Kennebec River with Class III-IV rapids, and discussions on guiding techniques and local history. The trip concludes with a river barbecue and a return to pick up location for 4pm.
