The trip will take place in Caratunk, Maine, starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 14. (Please note transportation to and from western Maine is not included.)

This 3-day program is designed to expose participants to the world of outdoor recreation and hospitality while fostering essential skills like communication, leadership, problem-solving, and adaptability. Hard skills like climbing, whitewater rafting, camping, and outdoor cooking will also be introduced. Here's a summary of the itinerary:

  • Day 1 kicks off with dinner, orientation, and introductions to belay school on the indoor climbing wall. Participants will learn basic climbing skills in a supportive environment.

  • Day 2 begins with breakfast, followed by packing for a 2-day rafting trip. The day wraps up with a fire-cooked barbecue, wilderness sauna, and s’mores by the campfire.

  • Day 3 includes breakfast at camp, an exhilarating 12-mile descent of the Kennebec River with Class III-IV rapids, and discussions on guiding techniques and local history. The trip concludes with a river barbecue and a return to pick up location for 4pm.
