About spark!
SPARK! Wilderness Girls* Club is a safe place to be yourself. Spark curiosity, confidence, and connection. Find your *brave* with SPARK!
Outdoor adventure education teaches us resiliency, stewardship, and connection to the natural world. Our SPARK! programs are an invitation into the magical world of Maine's wild places. Our fully unplugged, outdoor program fosters a sense of inquiry and self-reliance.
SPARK! programs are led by Registered Maine Guide and long-time educator Rae-a Moughty. Rae-a is an expert in leading groups through wilderness learning experiences of all shapes and sizes. She specializes in team building and creating intentional communities conducive to personal growth.
At SPARK! Wilderness Club, we will respond and integrate the needs of the weather and the group. We will accommodate for all weathers - keeping safety in mind. For example, we would reschedule on a day with a “feels like” temperature of 15° Fahrenheit or below.

What will she do with her Spark?
Studies have shown that girls’ self-esteem can plummet between the vulnerable ages of 8 and 14. Learning about yourself through carefully and mindfully guided wilderness expeditions helps to build confidence and a strong community foundation for young girls. As they grow, they will do so with a secure foundation of skills that they can draw from for years to come. Wilderness experiences provide natural leadership opportunities for girls to learn about themselves and each other, helps to build lasting friendships, and perhaps most importantly, helps them exercise their own voice. By co-creating an environment where girls feel safe and empowered, they can step out of restrictive gender roles and learn about their own capacities, interests, and resiliencies.
