Where and when?
For the October 2021 trip we will be paddling on the Saco River (which weaves in and out of Maine and New Hampshire). Drop-off and pickup are in Conway, New Hampshire.
Drop-off: Friday, October 8 at 5 PM
Pickup: Monday, October 11 at Noon 

Sleeping accommodations: we will be tenting on the river in primitive campsites.

What’s Included? 
Boats, life jackets, paddles, all food, filtered water, dry bags, and tents* will be provided. (*If you want to bring your own tent, that is an option too!)

What do I need to bring?
Sleeping bag (in a stuff sack), compact sleeping pad, rain gear and a negative COVID test taken within 3 days.  A detailed packing list will be provided!  

Why is this trip specifically for LGBTQ+ youth?

Simply put -- queer spaces are important because we all deserve spaces free from fear and judgment.  LGBTQ+ youth can struggle with depression, dysphoria, and finding places to fit in.  OUT on the River will provide space for youth to foster community with others who may be going through similar life experiences.  Nature explorations are empowering and present opportunities for gaining confidence and resilience. These skills can create positive pathways that are useful when we return back to our everyday lives.  

Who is leading the trip?

This trip is specifically led by out members of the LGBTQ+ community who have navigated these waters and can provide positive, strong role models for today’s youth.  Our queer identified staff includes a licensed Maine Wilderness Guide and experienced youth educators in the field of wilderness therapy.  Extensive references available upon request. Don’t hesitate to ask!
